November 2016 election – Trump wins. Russian interference in the election is confirmed, as detailed in a report by the Senate Intelligence Committee, which was comprised of 11 Democrats and 10 Republicans, all of whom endorsed the findings.

November-December 2020 – Biden wins the Presidential election by a margin of 306 to 232 electoral votes. Trump denies the election loss and pursues strategies to overturn the result, including all of the following: lawsuits, pressure on VP Pence to prevent certification, creation of “alternate electors” from several states, claims of voter fraud and voting machine manipulation, and attempts to engage the military to seize ballots and voting machines.

January 6, 2021 – A mob of Trump supporters attacks the United States Capitol Building. Trump watched on for over 3 hours disregarding calls among many, including House Speaker McCarthy, Trump Jr., Fox News Sean Hannity, and others, for Trump to address the mob to stand down.

July 1, 2024 – The Supreme Court rules on Presidential immunity – absolute immunity for certain official acts, a presumption of immunity for all other official acts, and no immunity for unofficial acts. The decision significantly clouds a number of charges pending against Trump and clearly delays any further proceedings until after the election. The 6 Republican justices supported the decision, the 3 Democrat appointees dissented. In her dissent, Justice Sotomayor stated the decision makes “a mockery of the principle, foundation to our Constitution and system of Government, that no man is above the law”.

September 6, 2024 – Former Vice President under George Bush and arch conservative Dick Chaney announced he would vote for Harris, stating “In our nation’s 248 year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic that Donald Trump”.
